Who is Robert Cartwright?

Photography has been Robert Cartwright’s passion ever since he was given a Kodak Baby Hawkeye camera in 1950. Trained as an Electrical Engineer, Robert was made redundant in 1978 and turned his back on the profession in favour of a new career in photography, creating images for promoting Staffordshire as a tourist destination.

For 23 years Robert presented an audio-visual entertainment and soon became a regular presenter at clubs and societies throughout the area.

Expanding into the medium of the video documentary Robert commissioned the production of a series of programmes about the lost railways of Staffordshire and Derbyshire.

He has successfully presented a number of exhibitions, the images highlighting his love of the countryside around Stafford, especially the ever changing moods of Cannock Chase.

His latest enterprise is the design of a collection of greetings cards, illustrated with photographs from his extensive digital library, these featuring Stafford and the surrounding countryside throughout the seasons. In addition a Christmas collection (of 20 scenes) has proved very popular with Robert’s many customers.
